New York Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion in New York

Voluntary Self-Exclusion, run by the New York State Gaming Commission. Signing up means every venue and app it covers must refuse you and stop marketing to you.

What it covers

Everything NY regulates: casinos, retail and mobile sports betting, VLTs, lottery, fantasy sports, and horse wagering.

How long

1 year · 3 years · 5 years · lifetime. The research favors the longest term you can say yes to today: long commitments are the ones that hold.

How to enroll

No web portal. Submit the Commission's form with a recent photo, in person at any licensed casino, at the Commission in Schenectady, or by mail with a notarized form. The NY Council on Problem Gambling offers free e-notary help.

Make it stick

Self-exclusion covers the regulated sites. Offshore and "sweepstakes" casinos ignore it, which is why the layers matter: block them on your phone, add the bank layer, and let one person you trust know. Wagerless sets all of it up in about three minutes.
